Model Ships
For modelling enthusiasts, model ships often hold a special fascination. Whether it be the warships of Elizabethan
times, or more modern craft, the world of model ships can offer a wonderful insight into the maritime lifestyle.
If you're just started out making model ships then experienced builders would generally recommend that you start out by building
models that you have a particular interest in. The reason for that is that you may find your first 2 or 3 model ships quite difficult to construct - it takes even the best of us a little bit of time to get used to the techniques involved.
If you're aiming to construct a particular model that you already have an interest in then you'll generally tend to persevere. This should assure that, when you branch out into more complex modelling, you'll already have the confidence to make the most of the kits available.
On a completely separate note, it is of course possible to buy model ships pre-built. For the modelling enthusiast that may not hold much interest but for those of us who have never mastered the building and painting techniques required for the most difficult model kits, they provide a great way to get our hands on some high quality replicas.
We'd advise, before buying such a model, that you always take a really good look at the craftsmanship involved. Levels of quality can vary and price is not always a good guide to the quality of the model.
